Stained glass mixed media experiments
In this post I will be sharing some of my recent artwork.
Last night I decided to experiment on Photoshop with elements of one of my photos I took at Notre Dame Cathedral when I went to Paris last month. I started with a painting in some watercolour brush pens, using the original photo as a reference. I then scanned that painting in and played around with some Photoshop filters and such and seeing what I came up with.
I planned on doing a detailed digital drawing next, using the same reference photo. But as the focal point of the photograph was the stained glass window, I thought I would try experimenting with just the stained glass part of the photograph.
I started by doing some digital outlines and drawing on top of the photograph, then I selected the stained glass in a circle shape, and moved it into a new document to use as my basis for my experiments. I then played around with changing the different colours using hue, saturation and brightness tools. And I also tried layering different versions on top of one another.
I also played around a lot with opacity, to make some look more faded than others - which I think worked really well and helped blend the circles together in some cases.
I ended up doing 150 in total.. yikes. But in this post I will share a few of my favourites from each colour scheme I did.
Thanks for reading.
